I avoid heavy, extremely graphic stuff, as well as anything in the erotica genres. I rely on friends who have similar reading tastes to figure out which authors meet my heat-rating guidelines. Our minds have great capacity to recall any junk stored in there, sometimes at odd moments and places. It's better to fill it up with good stuff when there are a lot of great, clean stories out there.
