This recipe has been a family favorite for years:

    Congo Bars
2 3/4 Cup all purpose flour
    2 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
    1/2 teaspoon salt
2/3 cup butter or margarine, softened
    2 Cups Brown sugar
    3 eggs
    1 teaspoon vanilla
    1 pkg. semi-sweet chocolate chips

    Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
Sift flour, baking powder and salt in a large bowl, set aside.
Cream butter and sugar together in separate bowl. Add eggs to sugar mixture, one at a time, stirring between each addition. Add vanilla.
Combine flour mixture to sugar mixture, stirring well.
    Stir in chocolate chips.
Grease (0r use cooking spray) a 13 x 9 baking pan, (I actually like to use one of my large cookie sheets.) Spread mixture evenly in pan.
Bake at 350 for 30 minutes, or until top is golden brown. Don't over bake.
Let cool, and cut into squares.
    Yum!

  2. This is my favorite sugar cookie recipe that we use every Christmas. :)

    Sugar Cookies
    1 c sugar
    1/2 c milk
    1 tsp vanilla
    1/8 tsp salt
    3 1/2 c flour
1/2 cup shortening or butter (I usually use butter)
    2 eggs
    1 tsp cream of tarter
    1 tsp baking soda

Mix sugar and butter together, add milk, eggs, and vanilla. Add dry ingredients. Make dough stiff enough to roll. Roll out, cut, and bake 375 for 9 minutes. Cool and frost. Makes 3 dozen.

    Cream Cheese Frosting
1 8-oz package cream cheese (softened)
1/2 c butter (softened, not melted)
    1 tsp vanilla
    2 c powdered sugar

Mix together and enjoy! For added fun, add a few drops of food coloring.(Beware: I've burned up the motor on two electric hand mixers making this frosting. It's super thick! Make sure the cream cheese is really soft so that doesn't happen.)

  3. I know it's completely LATE--but you HAVE to make these cookies. They are ADDICTIVE, but oh so yummy!

aunt Olga's Gingersnaps (i don't know who aunt olga is but i love her!)

    1 1/2 c shortening
    2 c sugar
    1/2 c molasses
    2 eggs
    4 c flour
    1/2 tsp. salt
    2 tsp. cinnamon
    2 tsp. cloves
    2 tsp. ginger
    4 tsp. baking soda

Cream together shortening, sugar, molasses and eggs. Sift together flour, salt, cinnamon, cloves, ginger and soda. Mix wet and dry ingredients together. Form dough into small balls (ping pong or smaller size). Roll in sugar and place on cookie sheet. Indent each ball slightly with back of spoon (or thumb). Bake @ 325 degrees for 7-10 minutes. Will be puffy and crinkled. Soft and yummy!
