Lemon Tart

So, as many books as I've read in the Sadie Hoffmiller cozy mystery series, I haven't read the first few. The good thing about the series is you can read them as stand alone books, but where is the fun in that? I finally had a moment to sit down and read the first one to see how it all started.

Goodness, what a tangled web! She's widowed, engaged, and all is not well on her quaint cul-de-sac, esp. when it comes to her brother who lives next door.

Sadie certainly is a novice at her detective skills, but her powers of observation border on the occult. Some would say she's a busybody with her nose stuck in other people's business and to butt out, but if she didn't, we'd probably never know 'whodunit.' We meet many characters, like her children & Pete, who figure into books in the series.

I found the writing solid (as always), the descriptions right on, and the climax - stomach tightening.

As for recipes, I haven't tried any of these. Perhaps, I should go try my hand at making Lemon Tart, but then look what happened to the character that did!

At the heart of Sadie's search is Anne's missing two-year-old son, Trevor. Whoever took the child must be the murderer, but Sadie is certain that the police are looking at all the wrong suspects - including her!
Armed with a handful of her very best culinary masterpieces, Sadie is determined to bake her way to proving her innocence, rescuing Trevor, and finding out exactly who had a motive for murder.
